Hi there, We are trying to get use the ASR method of DR on one of our HP blades (BL25p). We get to the point of adding the last of the 3 disks and then we receive a 'Critical Failed to initialize. Please press any key to exit the DR process' Ive seen a technical document mentionning that this may be due to NIC drivers not being available. How do i get the NIC drivers (a HP NC7782) into the dr kit? (it would appear that the windows media doesnt know about them.

Any help GREATLY appreciated! Hello Jason, try this: DataProtector ASR restore with DL380G4 Windows2003 and SP1 Create a backup - VSS (volume shadow copy services) enabled - Include system state and system disk(s) - Create DR diskettes and srd file Restore 1. Have system disks with same partitions as original 2. Boot from Windows installation medium. Press F2 during the start of the OS to enter the ASR mode.

Provide the first (updated) diskette from the ASR set. After certain period of time, the system will reboot. Make sure that you eject the ASR diskette before system is rebooted, right when you see the message 'The system will reboot in 15 seconds'.

This way you'll prevent the message 'Non system disk or error' from appearing and you'll also prevent the DR wizard from scanning removable media for recovery.SRD file. DR Wizard will start. It will not scan removable media because you removed the diskette. At this time the network is unavailable. Open command window by pressing the Cmd button on the left side of DR wizard.

From the command line execute the following command: 9. C:WINDOWS System32 rundll32.exe shell32.dll,ControlRunDLL hdwwiz.cpl Command is case sensitive! The command above will start 'Add Hardware Wizard', which you can use to install the missing network card driver. Insert the Smart Start CD or diskette with NIC driver for DL380G4 -HP NC7782 Gigabit Server Adapter. Driver for this card is q57xp32.sys.

In the wizard mark 'Install from a list of specific locations'. Mark 'Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.' Click on 'Have Disk' button. Put the drive letter of your CD unit in 'Copy manufacturer's files from' box. Click on 'Browse' button. Find the driver's.inf file.

Click on 'Open' and 'Ok'. You'll see list of Network Card models.

Chose the right one, HP NC7782 Gigabit Server Adapter. Click on 'Next'. The driver will be installed now. You can check it by searching for the file q57xp32.sys in C: WINDOWS system32 drivers. Install a driver for each NIC. Check wit 'ipconfig' if a IP address is received form the DHCP server. Insert the first ASR diskette back and press 'Rescan' button in DR Wizard.

The DR Wizard will continue asking you for the second and third ASR diskette and it will start 'omnidr' in the end. With regards, Otto. EVA): shut-down the blade, create snapclone of OS disk, keep snapclone handy + use DataProtector + raw Disk backup to get a tape copy. When you have maintenance window to apply patches, add a little time to get a new snapclone. If disaster, (and still have snapclone) you can re-jigger WWID and LUN and present and boot. If disaster, (and no-longer have the snapclone), mount a new lun on a working DP client and write the raw disk image back to the device file of the new lun.

Re-jigger WWID and LUN and presentation and boot. This should be pretty easy to do if you manage both DP and EVA.
